Pickled Brothers in Gatlinburg and at the Kentucky Mountain Laurel Festival

On 5/22, the Pickled Brothers will be at the media event for the opening of Ripley’s Aquarium‘s “Slime” exhibit.

From there we’ll be headed to Pineville, KY for the Kentucky Mountain Laurel Festival where we’ll be doing shows throughout the festival, and performing in the parade for Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear.

This is all leading up to May 31st, the opening of Kentucky’s Highland Renaissance Festival!

Maybe we can give the Governor a brochure.

On second thought, maybe we shouldn’t run up to the Governor with swords in our hands…

The Voodoo Carnival

For the last 4 years, the Pickled Brothers have performed at the Voodoo Carnival in or around Cincinnati. Once at the Southgate House (in its old location), once at the Redmoor, and now for the second time at the Southgate House Revival in Newport, KY Saturday, March 1st starting at 8:00 PM!

This is a Mardi Gras themed masquerade show. This year it features DJ Nipples, Lord Spencington doing a Boylesque routine, Jeanette “Flexy” Martinez with a contortion act, Animal Circles surf punk, Zahara’s Tangled Web belly dance, Gandersnitch the Goblin with Goblin Burlesque, Vincent Vile and the Vilettes doing a performance art piece, and of course the Pickled Brothers with a brand new routine! MC’ed by our host, Aloysius Fox, this Voodoo Carnival will feature the return of Mister Happy Trousers and his Pantload of Prizes!

The evening will feature vendors, photographers, and a costume contest. There is no dress code, but those wishing to compete in the contest should dress to impress!

World Sword Swallowers Day

On February 22nd, 2014, Erik and Travis participated in World Sword Swallowers Day at 2 separate Ripley’s Believe it or Not Locations. Erik was at Ripley’s Odditorium in Myrtle Beach, SC, and Travis was at Ripley’s in Gatlinburg, TN.

Travis was joined by Captain Stab-Tuggo, and 15 year old Sasha Ashley, both from Atlanta, Georgia. This was Sasha’s first public sword swallowing performance!

With Stab-Tuggo swallowing 8 swords, Sasha swallowing 1, and Travis swallowing 2, Gatlinburg, TN averaged the most sword per sword swallower of any location with multiple blade glommers at  3 2/3rds swords!

More information and photos of many of the Sword Swallower’s Day celebrations is available at the Ripley’s Blog:
